Improving the Curb Appeal of Your Business Premises: Three Areas to Focus On

When it comes to running a business, first impressions are everything.

If you’re working out of physical premises, everything starts with making the exterior of your building attractive and visually appealing. There’s a lot to unpack here, and you’ll have to carefully balance what looks good to the majority of people with what comes across as professional and on brand.

If you haven’t updated the exterior for a long time, you’ve likely got your work cut out for you. This will take time and effort, and it can be hard to know where to begin.

In this short article, you’ll learn about three of the most important elements for improving curb appeal, so that you can continue to make the best possible impression.

    1. Focus First on the Flooring and Paving

Given that the flooring and paving areas of your premises cover the greatest surface area, it makes sense to start here. Maintaining a clean, uniform surface will go a long way in elevating the attractiveness of your business, and stylistically, it’s also one of the least complicated aspects to work with.

Head outside and inspect the concrete/brickwork and paving for cracks and damage. If everything’s relatively intact, you should be able to get away with power washing and repair work. Mudjacking is considered the safest and most effective way to lift old concrete that has begun to sink or break down. From there, you can have a protective coating added to prevent further degradation.

    2. Enhance Your Green Areas

Green areas are something of a double-edged sword. If they’re well maintained, they can significantly enhance the appearance of the place, adding often much-needed softer elements and contrasting color pallets to the industrial lines most commercial buildings exhibit. On the flipside, dead or decaying plant life, along with overgrown trees, hedges, and grass, makes an already degraded area look a lot worse.

Keep the grass cut nice and short and be purposeful about the colors you choose, aligning flowers with your brand aesthetic if possible (and choose perennials for low maintenance). Approaching a commercial landscaper is usually your best bet.

    3. Prioritize Lighting and Signage

Lighting and signage are extremely important elements of your business, particularly if you operate or are visible in the evening and at night.

If you can afford it, choose backlit signage for the front, side, and back of the building. This adds a professional feel and enables passing cars to recognize you from a significant distance.

If you have attractive architecture, using strip lighting along the perimeter of the building and post lighting on the ground helps to showcase that. Wall scones can also add an air of prestige if you’d like to go that route.

    Wrapping Up

Elevating your curb appeal doesn’t have to be complicated, and the above three steps should get you off to a good start. Make sure to draw up a basic budget, and always shop around for the best deal when buying products or services to improve things. Good luck!
