Oakland Zoo Primary African Veldt Keeper Amy Phelps secures a live-action camera on the head of 19-year-old Reticulated giraffe Benghazi. The Oakland Zoo is the first to capture a giraffe's point-of-view in captivity. The footage helps zookeepers design and better manage giraffe habitats. By sharing Benghazi's point-of-view with the world, Phelps hopes to create empathy and connection to giraffe and their critical situation in the wild.
